A Note from the Author
When I started my career, my performance was being measured based on a single criterion: productivity. My colleagues and I were expected to produce a certain number of reports each month, and it didn’t matter if the quality of the reports was good or bad, only that we produced enough of them. I started studying performance measurement out of frustration with this limited view–I thought that performance measures should be able to provide me with actionable data, that I could actually use to achieve performance gains. This ebook is the result of what I learned and practiced over the past 15 years while helping organizations determine what to measure and how to use performance data to identify problems and opportunities in the business analysis work, improve their requirements processes, and increase customer satisfaction with software projects.
